The Buena Vista Hotel      

More good news for the future of Fort McKay.  We are embarking on a Commercial Development Program with Shell Canada Limited.  The development includes the construction of a Hotel which will be called the Fort McKay Buena Vista Hotel.

The hotel will be sited a just few kilometers North of Fort McKay Industrial Park, near the Shell Landing, along side of the Athabasca river.  Buena Vista hotel will be located on 25 acres of reserve land selected for commercial/industrial developments as part of the Treaty Land Entitlement Settlement Agreement. 

In addition to the suites, the 3 storey building will have modern day amenities such as a restaurant, lounge, gym facility, library and much more.  For the next ten years, the Buena Vista will be occupied by Shell employees through contract.

This project has 2 phases: the first phase includes the construction of the Hotel containing 200 units, and the second phase will build another 200 units which will bring the total number of units to 400. The first phase is estimated to be completed in January 2007. 

Many opportunities for employment will be created through this project such as janitorial, housekeeping and more work within the hospitality field.  In addition to these positions, Entrepreneurial opportunities will also be available to successful candidates.
