Fort McKay Services Limited Partnership Trucking Division started in 1995 with three employees operating one fuel truck servicing the Base Plant at Syncrude. We now provide services on three contracts, Base Plant, Aurora and PetroCanada and have a total of twenty-four employees. The Manager, two Team Leaders, Maintenance Coordinator and an Administrative Assistant oversee the day-to-day operations. It takes the effort of all of the above to ensure that we are able to fulfill all of are contractual agreement in the safest way possible!
Our Base Plant contract scope of services consists of the delivery fuel to on-site stationary equipment, which includes but is not limited to cranes, forklifts, man lifts, light plants, loaders, etc. We have four class three operators and four swampers (truck driver helpers) and two, 5 tonne fuel trucks that service this portion of our contract. We provide this service twelve hours per day, 365 days a year. Both trucks run every day with two class three operators and two swampers.
Our Aurora contract scope of services consists of us transporting fuel (Syncrude Sweet Blend, Dyed Diesel) from the Syncrude Mine to the Aurora Mine. We have four class 1 operators that operate two B-Trains twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year. By the end of 2005, we will have delivered an estimated 85 million litres of fuel for this year. Our PetroCanada contract requirements consist of providing labour services to PetroCanada to operate two Lube Warehouses. There is one on each of the Aurora and Syncrude sites. This operation consists of 6 Lube Technicians and 1 Administrator. Several times throughout the year we provide shutdown fuel services to Syncrude. Shutdown actually increases our workload as it involves plant tie ins, expansion projects, scheduled maintenance or failure to live plants in the Syncrude Base Plant Operations.
More often than not when this transpires we change the shifts of our regular scheduled operators. Usually shutdown requires twenty-four hours coverage for extended periods of time. Syncrude/Suncor Fuel Transfers During the course of each year we transfer fuel from Syncrude to Suncor or vice versa via our B-Trains. This is required when one or the other has issues with the production of Dyed Diesel. When this occurs we have operators that deviate from their regular schedule to ensure that we are able to complete in a timely and cost effective manner for all parties.
