Fort McKay may be accessed by Highway 63 north, which runs north-south through Fort McMurray to northern communities in the municipality. Access is provided only through local roads.

There is a total of 13.61 km of roads in Fort McKay, which includes 8.12 km of local roads and 5.49 km of access roads. Currently, there is no public transit service in Fort McKay. Taxi services are the only means of transportation other than personal vehicles.
