Stuart Randell, PhD

Director – Strategic Portfolio Investments

Stuart Randell is the Chief Investment Officer for the Nation’s 100% owned Holding company which has a portfolio of 11 companies. He is the Director of Portfolio Investments and leads the investment team which is responsible for managing the portfolio as well as deploying capital into new income investments which add to the portfolio. The Nation’s portfolio companies are in the industrial services, energy, and real estate sectors and generate annual revenues of over $300M.

The Nation’s Holding company is income focused and the annual funds it generates are used to pay for the costs of programs and services in the community of Fort McKay.

Prior to joining the Nation, he was a management consultant with MNP and spent several years in business advisory with different firms. He holds a Ph.D. in International Commerce.

Patrick Hibbitts, BComm., MBA

Senior Manager – Strategic Portfolio Investments

Patrick Hibbitts is the Vice President of Fort McKay Landing LP. Patrick has over 18 years of experience working with a variety of industrial construction and industrial services firms. His focus areas of focus are operations management, finance, and contracting strategy.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Business Admiration from the University of Northern British Columbia.  He and his young family are proud residents of Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Monika Wilson, JD

Senior Manager – Strategic Portfolio Investments

Monika Wilson is the Vice President of Fort McKay Landing LP, her portfolio includes board governance for the Nation’s portfolio companies, implementing the Nation’s agreements with the surrounding industry, and deploying capital into new income investments. She also provides business advisory services to the Nation’s portfolio companies with a focus on dispute resolution and contract negotiations.

Monika has a Juris Doctor with a specialization in Aboriginal Law from the University of British Columbia, 2017, and an Executive Master Business Administration with a specialization in Indigenous Business Leadership from Simon Fraser University, 2022. Monika was called to the bar in British Columbia and is a member of the British Columbia Law Society and the Indigenous Bar Association.

Monika is Cree/Metis, a member of Fort McKay First Nation, a mother to a wonderful little boy, and in her spare time can be found reading, playing softball, and hiking. She is results-oriented, collaborative, and passionate about assisting her Nation to achieve economic sovereignty.

Amber Cardinal, BBA

Analyst – Strategic Portfolio Investments

Amber is an Analyst with the Strategic Portfolio Investments department at Fort McKay First Nation; Her primary job is to review business proposals, provide financial analysis, and source deals for the Nation.

She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and is currently working towards her MBA from the University of Calgary.

Amber is Dene/Cree, and a member of Fort McKay First Nation.

Anthony Chen, MBA

Analyst – Strategic Portfolio Investments

Anthony provides analytical and advisory support for several Fort McKay First Nation’s portfolio companies, oversees financial modeling and financial reporting for various investments and projects, and carries out research, valuations, and due diligence on proposed investments and corporate development initiatives. He has experience in private equity and real estate.

He completed a BEng. in Automation Engineering at the Guangxi University of Technology in China, a BComm. major in Finance at Saint Mary’s University and earned an MBA specializing in Real Estate Studies from the University of Calgary.
